This is great advice. I never thought of it like that.

Thank you! Just something I noticed in the music world (where I work), with all these bands with their cool LIVE PHOTOS from stage and stuff, and then their emails are just IMAGES of records with BUY HERE buttons. Then seeing how it’s not just bands - it’s nearly everyone! Mullet marketing! Haha

Ok Mullet Marketing is 🤯

Great breakdown of "Mullet Marketing"! Love the social media = party in the back, email = business in the front analogy. Reusing content and injecting personality into newsletters is a winning strategy. The subscriber growth without social media is impressive too!

Seth, literally EVERY POST I read of yours is : https://www.tiktok.com/@swedemaximus/video/7254616169112407322

You bring it all back to human, which is essentially what we all crave from these interactions, right? Common human experience.

Authenticity is always in style.

A little irony… probably one of two TikTok’s I’ve watched so far this year. 😆

I LOVE this. "I’m Seth Werkheiser, and this newsletter grew from 1,535 subscribers to 1,908 today (+373) without posting anything on social media."

I appreciate the work you do and the difference you make, Seth. Thanks for sharing your insight on the Creative on Purpose broadcast last week and the blog today!

...your thoughts on rattail marketing?...

Expand full comment

Is that a thing?

Expand full comment

...sure, why not...the rattail being cousin the the mullet...maybe it is akin to having one really long and growing idea that eventually you should cut and feel embarrassed by when looking back upon it...not sure how to fit a skullet in also or that thing where people buzz in z's on their sideburns...

Maybe this is a bit random, but I love the river videos you put in your newsletters, they make me feel so peaceful

Oh, thank you! Yes, they are very intentional, as I want anyone reading to feel the calm, cool vibes :)))

Never heard of that term but I love it! Excellent point you make, I hate most newsletters, why in the world am I writing one? 🤣

I THINK I came up with the term? Maybe?! hahah

But you're writing a newsletter because it's probably better than 1000s of shit newsletters that companies, brands, and other folks put out every month!
