Congrats Seth! Cleaning the slate for 2024. I can't wait to hear about your insights and experiences now that you've officially taken the red pill and escaped. Rock on Neo!
One of the biggest myopic gaps in 2020s music business advice is that it's all focused upon gathering "numbers". The fundamental mistake of that is ,that "numbers" are easily faked; and turning actual people, who have lives, loves, tastes, and hopes, into "numbers" is a terrible denigration of the bond that music creates between us as people.
For 2024, I want to not make "numbers" or fans. I want to make friends, and know names.
YEP. I remember any time doing music stuff the most epic, impactful part was talking with people after a show, at the merch table, or in the parking lot out back, ya know? Even now with my freelance work, I've gotten to chat with fans from the "label side" of things and I love every second of it. It's all about the connections!
What a great recollection, Seth. As a former touring solo act, I can totally relate. It’s the connections we make doing work we love that matter most in the end. Thanks for the reminder.
What a thoroughly refreshing read, thanks!
You are quite welcome!

Oh, you and the Matrix references - YES!!! I even have a matrix tattoo hahah
Ok yeah--that's not surprising at all--please take a pic and post it. I want to see it!

Congratulations on the deleting ☺️
hahah thank you!! LinkedIn is next.
Yeah I feel this a lot.
Yep
Boom. Done.
You deleted LinkedIn?
How many messages do you get for work? For gigs? I get allllll the wrong sorts of folks hitting me up on there
Yeah I’ve been on long enough to know it doesn’t work for me. I think it might be getting axed today
OH MAN, I love it.
You did the damn thing!
You're an inspiration!

Yessss, it's all about the people. Without that foundation, trying to build numbers is tough!
Good for you! Happy new year, I hope your new Instagram free existence is all I've heard it can be 📸🙅🏻♀️
If it’s anything like Twitter, it’ll be great (deleted that last summer)!
There's not been a single day I've regretted leaving that site!
I was on Twitter since 2006, but holy moly... it turned into an absolute trash heap. Don't miss it one bit.
