Great stuff Seth!--as always! And you should also know that one of your previous articles--the one about making 'real' stuff--haunted me so much that I'm actually working on my first zine. (Btw--are you doing another Escape Pod anytime soon?)
You mean the whole thing? Not just the yellow wind muff (right terminology?). That would be pretty cool. Though I must say, I noted and liked the pop of yellow already.
This is great, honestly. But I'm really struggling to get past the comment that only 10-20% of my audience will see my posts. On my *best* posts I reach 1% and I'm lucky to reach 10% if I pay a considerable amount to boost the post. People who can reach that much on an organic post are, let's just say, blessed.
Oh don't worry - you're in "good company," as some of the bigger media accounts out there with six figure followings can't reach much more than 1% of their followers, either.
And even if you CAN reach 10% of your audience on social media, getting 1% of THOSE people to click anything is miracle, too.
I really like your conversational vibe and your hat, too. It’s almost the exact same color as my CTA button. If I bop your hat, will a pop up email sign up form appear? 🤣
What’s your sound setup? I have been around audio and video for years, more video, but my new flat - ugh! Audio Ps and Ts on a handheld mic, really any mic. 8 hours of ice baths would be easier. Is that a USB mic or ya running through an equalizer deck?
Hat bops only equal high fives, no pop ups here! haha
And the sound set up for this was the SM58 running into Zoom H6, BUT the secret sauce is uploading the audio into Adobe's Podcast AI "Enhance Speech" service (free for up to an hour of audio per day): https://podcast.adobe.com/enhance
High fives work! AND, I've never given a hat a high five. Willy Wonka would be proud! I use the free Adobe, too. It does a ton of good, but for me (not you or your hat, both are fantastic), my voice is not crisp and there are sound artifacts. Not many. Im running a Shure MV88+ USB straight in. I used a Zoom H4 for years, great workflow. Appreciate the details!!
HMMMMMM you've got the wind screen or whatever then? Microphone stuff is HARD. Could it be the room? I mean, that's a little harder to fix, but I used to set up in another room and it sounded horrible.
Yes, the new flat is just a royal pain. Like your mic, the wind screen is built in although not as pronounced. The app is epic, as I can use my phone to grab better sound with less background. Not sure how to fix but thanks for troubleshooting with me.
Great stuff, Seth, and you made my day with the shout out. Thank you!
Of course!!!!
It is it. All I want is to be surrounded by curious, talented people. That's it!
Yes!!! A life filled with warm, loving, smart souls is rich!!!

oh my goodness - MAKING STUFF! I'm so glad to hear that!
And the Escape Pod.. in a bit.. maybe next month, or so. You'll be the first to know!
ok yay!
I think you’ll enjoy the next video I post - inspired by your woodsy adventures!
Oooo! Can hardly wait!
A stocking cap is useless if it is not covering your ears. Lots of heat escapes out your ears.
Thank you for the shout out Seth!
You’re welcome!
Terrific advice, Seth. Love the mike by the way.
Thank you! I'm trying to figure out a way to paint it yellow, to really complete the look haha

THE WHOLE THING. I got something in the works muahaha
Oh my gosh, that's awesome. Tag me in a note or something when you do so I don't miss it!!

This was great, love your insights!
Thank you, I'm glad you got something from it!
