Hi, Seth. In no way did I suggest that social media was "working for me". My point was, our patch of cultural ground cannot be left unoccupied there; while we retreat into insular self-constructed bubbles.

The danger is not merely being passively forgotten by one's more casual connections; but that there are people there who mine cultural clout by *actively denying* our existence, and thereby the value and credibility of all our efforts. This carries a real hazard of becoming passively "received opinion" among those people who we hope to engage even a small percentage of. The clout miners have been at this for 3 decades (almost 4 now); and it's harder than ever to engage an audience with facts to the contrary as a result.

That's why I'm on there, to fight those "rock is dead" clout-miners for ground; whether "it works for me" personally or not (more likely not) is a tertiary concern at best.

And that's why people like us need to not run from that fight and hide.

Ahhh, I hear you! Fight your fight, then! Not everyone can have that energy to fight day in and day out there. I was on there since 2006 fighting my fight, esp from 2011-2018 with Skulltoaster and Metal Bandcamp Gift Club! But I just don’t have that kind of energy anymore to engage like that.
