I'm ready to go off social media. I'm slowly inching my way towards it, examining the emotional baggage that goes along with this disconnection. Wondering if I can do it half way and return when I need to check my teen's feed or send a funny meme to my high school buddy I see once every few years... Is there an in-between?
And it just feels fun and good to do stuff like this anyway. Fun doesn’t have to mean escapism (what most people seem to think it is). Glad you could talk about it in a way that cut through the noise and made its way to me. Cheers.
...that real people communication thought is good stuff man...i learn so much more in alive conversation (really through active listening) than i do in the maybe/maybe world of online "did you see me there" ism...rad wind to you man...
Fortuitous connections! This is a great approach! However--asking for a friend--do you also help artists that (reluctantly) post on tiktok for 153 people, as well? :)
You the goat Seth 🔥 I saw this newsletter linked on the subreddit for Substack a few times now, I'm thrilled to see it spreading. After an endless sea of "Top 10 reasons you NEED to make a TikTok" - it's refreshing to see your approach, and I'm happy to see it resonate with others too
Great tips for a real connection, Seth. And thanks for choosing PhotoTalk as one of the examples. It was nice having you participate and I'm looking forward to even more collaboration over here in Substack. It is such an inspiring community with plenty of wonderful ideas.
I love the distinction you make at the end: connect with real people vs. pitch something into the void where it may or may not be "seen." The creative contacts you made sound both rewarding and fun.

Cool insight. Will try the 15min /5 days a week interaction thing.

Very cool. I love helping people learn new skills and get started, too!
