My hubby is a house music dj and during the pandemic we were streaming lots on twitch (he played the music and I painted, we called it Art Disco, it was fun!) but when everything opened back up he was craving playing for people again (not that people in the chat aren’t people), so he reached out to a local bar and started a weekly event, every Sunday for the last two summers, inviting different djs to join him every week. It was really cool to see people come back week after week, and to see the community grow! He’s since started another weekly to keep things going over the winter. The community continues to grow and it’s so awesome to see it all happen!

Oh my goodness, this is SO GREAT! Do you make art during these sets?

I haven’t, no, but just this past week I did some “finger doodle” portraits of people and that was fun! This week I’m going to bring paper and do some live portraits

JUST got rid of my most problematic but most profitable client to the tune of tens of thousands I’ll miss in payments. How do I feel? IMMENSE RELIEF.

Great video, and love this format Seth. Also, funny to hear you promote ‘The Art of Gathering’. Worlds colliding- My boss ordered us all copies of that book in 2020 when we were starting to convene our work community more regularly, on zoom then in person. It’s a great book! Lots of good ideas for musicians and show promoters to adapt, right?
