“Legacy blue checks will be removed soon,” tweeted Mr. Musk back in February, “those are the ones that are truly corrupt.”
Well, most every “corrupt” metal band, label, and media outlet lost their legacy blue checks on Twitter in the last few days:
In the aftermath, some metal bands and notable folks have started paying for Twitter Blue:
Iron Maiden, System Of A Down, Korn, Linkin Park, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Brian Slagel of Metal Blade, Full Metal Jackie, Don Jamieson, Queensrÿche, Lisa Coverdale of Holdtight PR, Mastodon, Deftones, Rise Against, The Offspring, Sum 41, Nickelback, and more.
Maybe you’re not planning on paying up, though down the road you might be required to have a subscription if you want to advertise and promote your posts down the road.
Damn, Twitter is exhausting.
FOUR THE WEEKEND
Assorted, non-exciting tasks that are due by Monday.
Make sure all your socials are locked down and secure - enable 2FA across the board, and make sure any connected “external ad accounts” are secure, too (that’s how Elder lost contact with 78,000 Facebook followers).
Start building that email list for that day when a social media platform randomly suspends your account for no reason.
Make sure you’ve got your domain name login and password on file, and your credit card info up to date. Same with your website hosting.
Figure out the link that you can post on socials that’ll let people subscribe to your email list (also called a “landing page”).
Write me, fight me.
